Sexual violence can happen anywhere…
Sexual violence can happen to anyone, regardless of age, gender, identity, relationship, or circumstances. It includes unwanted sexual contact, sexual acts without consent, coercion, exploitation, harassment, and other behaviors that violate a person's boundaries or autonomy.
Sexual violence can be perpetrated by a stranger, acquaintance, partner, friend, family member, or someone else the individual knows and trusts. If you have experienced sexual violence, it was not your fault, and you do not have to navigate the next steps alone
Understanding Sexual Violence
Sexual violence can include:
Rape or sexual assault
Unwanted sexual contact or touching
Sexual violence within an intimate relationship
Sexual exploitation
Sexual harassment
Child sexual abuse and incest
Non-consensual exposure or sexual acts
Voyeurism or violations of sexual privacy
Every person's response to sexual violence is different. Individuals may experience emotional, physical, psychological, or social effects, and there is no single "right" way to respond.
